evolution comic prologue review
The prologue of this comic series talked a lot about natural selection and gave an overview on the beginnings of evolution. I learned that natural selection is the process in nature in which the most favorable traits are passed on to a species offspring. These arise through mutations in the cell that give the organism an advantage in its changing surroundings. In order for natural selection to occur these things need to happen: (1) there needs to be variation in certain traits of a population, (2) not all organisms can survive to reproduce offspring and pass on their traits, (3) survival cannot be random, and (4) the favorable traits must be heritable.
